This is a Graphite and White Conte on Gray paper.
Actually there's very little graphite at this point... balancing the white against the dark pencil is always a critical so at this point I really like what I've got but am not sure as how to proceed. In one way I like it just the way it is leaving the hair and shirt as a simple suggestion.. I'm very pleased with the values across the face. It seems to describe the form quite well but I'm not sure how to integrate it into the remaining portrait. This is a good example why one should do a quick value study first...lol.
